Implantation Bleeding Or Period : Some Information
One of the easiest ways to detect pregnancy even before taking a pregnancy test is by figuring implantation. Those women who understand the signs of implantation are easily able to differentiate them from the period. How do they do it? The post covers all the tricks to find out whether you are having implantation bleeding or it’s a period.
Best way to detect implantation from the period is the timing of your cycle. You always know your due date. Bleeding few days before the due date is implantation spotting if you had sex near ovulation. Fertility period is between three days before ovulation to 24 hours after it.
Key Differences to know Between IB vs. Period
Implantation spotting starts earlier
The egg takes 7-9 days to be ready for implantation. The first stage in the development of the baby is the attachment of a ball of cells to the uterus wall. Period, on the other hand, is the dissolution of the wall because no egg came in. Thus implantation spotting has to start earlier because if the wall goes away as period, then the egg will have to come along.
Even after implantation, it takes more than a week for hCG to show up in blood and urine. Thus you can detect pregnancy a week before missed period if you know implantation.
Spotting from implantation begins when the blastocyst has started to move in the layers of the uterus. A blastocyst is the bunch of cells capable of attaching in the uterus. The free-floating embryo now begins a sedentary life for the rest of the years to come!!
Period cramps are worse, worst
When you have periods, PMS starts a few days earlier telling you to raise your threshold for pain. There are cramps before, during and after a period which are painful. Implantation cramps are like gas distress or bowel movements. You have a squishy tingly feeling towards a side.
Pain during the period is pulsating and stays for hours or days. Implantation spotting is just for less than a minute and occurs randomly.
When you have cramps and abdominal pain, then you may have a cyst that is bleeding early. Early period or implantation bleeding both begin the signs similarly show the difference. Period gets heavier and implantation bleeding stops.
Implantation bleeding lasts a day
A period for some women lasts for eight days! And implantation doesn’t last for more than a day in typical scenarios.
The first stage of implantation doesn’t cause bleeding. Spotting after implantation is not because of egg embedding. Instead, it is pregnancy spotting that can happen anytime again during pregnancy ahead.
Period color is bright red
The color of implantation bleeding is the most easily observable characteristic. Period blood is fresh, smelling and has clots. Implantation bleeding has a similar odor but of lesser intensity. There are no clots in implantation bleeding. Why? Clots are tissues and implantation prevents the breaking of the wall.
IB color can be orange or pink, but then you need to take a test to confirm pregnancy. In another case too you will take a test. Bleeding can happen for any reason not related to pregnancy. Sometimes a rough sex act also causes spotting. You can’t rely on it as the pregnancy sign you’re looking for.
Implantation bleeding is watery
When you get pregnant, the cervix glands start functioning excessively to release a lot of mucus. Unlike the thick white discharge you’ve before period, the kind of cervical mucus is different. There is no heavy bleeding during implantation.
Implantation bleeding texture also becomes watery, and you feel wet. You should avoid any stress because it will make you irritable. Putting a napkin is better than using a tampon at this stage. IB feels watery but needs to flow out. Tampon make the vagina parched and increase chances of itching and further issues.
Period doesn’t affect BBT
Implantation bleeding has a characteristic triphasic BBT pattern, unlike period. Some of you might retaliate that you feel hotter or cold when you’re on period. That is a different response of the body to the distressed state of losing the egg.
During implantation, the basal body temperature rises and falls back to initial value. This gives it a three-point graph. The triphasic pattern of BBT is more commonly seen in pregnant women than non-pregnant ones.
Implantation is the beginning of new changes
After implantation, the symptoms of pregnancy start showing clearly. Once you’re over the period, you know that it’s an end to week-long troubles and hurdles. Post period the development of uterine lining begins from almost nothing. You feel better and back to the previous state. Once implantation is successful, the body kicks off toxicosis and causes morning sickness. After implantation, you get to experience the real deal of being pregnant. Thus implantation is the first step and period ends a cycle.
